Cape Town Carnival is back and in 2025 it is more bigger, bolder and more ‘WowZA’ than ever! It is much-loved annual family event that draws hundreds of travellers to the Mother City each year. It shines a creative spotlight on top local talents of Cape Town.
The 2025 edition will be celebrating 15 years of Cape Town Carnival. It urges the visitors to get ready for amazing performers and jaw-dropping floats as they parade down Greenpoint’s Fan Walk on Saturday, March 15.
WowZA! theme for this year, is bringing few exciting new additions, where the visitors will get to see their favourite Rugby Teams of Cape Town such as DHL Stormers, who will take the Cape by Storm with their float down Somerset Street.
For the fun filled experience, the carnival will also be joined by the Rio’s Carnival superstar Erika Januza, who will bring a taste of Brazil to the streets. The ‘Queen of Drums’ will be joined by some of the hottest drag queens of Cape Town from The Drag Cartel: Maxine Wild, Dee Blogging, Diamante Eclipse, Valentina Petronella (LeCap), Le Baby and Emogen Moore.
There are many special things to be observed by Music fans as they can look forward to performances from Bravo Le Roux, YounstaCPT, and Paxton Fielies, and ofcourse, Cape Town’s beloved firefighters that will bring the heat.
Cape Town Carnival 2025 will also feature the Chinese community, marching bands and traditional dancers who will light up the Fan Walk.
Seeing this, CEO of Cape Town Carnival – Jay Douwes said that the event will bring together the people from different communities across the city.
Considering this, she stated that this year they are marking 15 incredible years celebrating community-based creativity and culture. If you have not been to Greenpoint in March, then you have not experienced the most life-affirming event of the year, added Douwes.
As per the event details, the official parade will kick off at the Fan Walk, Greenpoint Stadium, on Saturday, March 15, 2025. The Carnival Villages will open at 3:00 pm, with the parade starting at 6:00pm. It will arrive early to soak in the vibe.
Notably, no alcohol is allowed on the public streets, but there are designated villages where you can enjoy a drink responsibly.
