South Africa: A businessman and his son came under attack from three suspects who were trying to rob their hardware business. The father and son were trying to leave their business premises in Verulam CBD (Central business District) when the suspects confronted them.
They demanded valuables from the victims after which the victims made an effort to defend themselves. At this point the suspects started to fire shots to scare them.
They allegedly shot at the businessman’s car multiple times before they left the scene of crime in their vehicle.
The vehicle belonging to the businessman and his son has been identified as a grey VW Polo. Meanwhile, the three-armed suspects fled the scene in a Toyota Quantum. The registration for the suspects’ car is unknown.
The victims of the incident escaped unscathed in the attack and were able to give the officials a detailed account of the incident. The incident happened in the afternoon hours of Friday when the victims were trying to go back to their homes.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received multiple calls from the public in the Verulam CBD in the late hours of the afternoon. The callers reported rapid gunfire on Wick Street outside the Verulam Market.
On receiving the report, the members of the RUSA dispatched all the available Reaction Officers. They arrived on the scene at approximately 17:27. They interviewed the father and the son who gave them all the details about the attack.
The victims revealed that at the time of the accident they had exited their hardware business. They were in the process of driving off in a grey VW Polo when they were confronted by the three (3) gunmen.
The victims shared all the details of the incident with the Reaction Officials who conducted the preliminary investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, they also established that the victims’ vehicle was damaged due to the shooting however, they were not injured.
The people of the country have expressed their sincere disappointment over the increasing numbers of these crimes in Verulam. The Central business District has also been reporting large numbers of unfortunate incidents within the nation.
