Cameroon: President of Cameroonian National Football Team – Samuel Eto’o has donated 85 balls to the Southwest Region. Out of those 85 soccer balls, 10 balls were contributed to the eight Qualified team for the Southwest Regional Mini Interpools and 5 were given to the regional bureau.
The Southwest Regional Mini Interpools will start on Sunday, June 23, 2024 in Buea. Considering this, the president of the South West Regional League – Valery Ndazeh presented his gratitude to Samuel Eto’o for his unwavering support towards the region during the ball distribution ceremony held today.
Reportedly, the qualified teams for the tournament involves Aljazeera, Tiko United, Buea United, Fako United Legend Football Academy, Best stars Academy, Kumba City, Legend FA and Electsport.
Recently, the Members of the Board of the Fair Play Menarini Foundation – Antonello Biscini, Valeria Speroni Cardi and Ennio Troiano are delighted to welcome another champion to the roster of 2024 award winners.
The Award Jury has added a global football legend, striker Samuel Eto’o to this year’s list of winners. The FECAFOOT president was voted as best African Football player of the century in 2007.
Eto’o of Indomitable Lions has stamped his mark in Cameroon’s footballing history, winning a gold medal at the Olympics in 2000 and two African Cups in 2000 and 2002. He is still his country’s all-time leading goal scorer with an impressive 56 goals.
Samuel Eto’o and the other stars of the 28th edition will take the stage of the Roman Theatre in Fiesole on Thursday, July 04, 2024 during the award ceremony. The award was completely free and open to the public.
Other than Samuel Eto’o, the list of winners of the 28th Fair Play Menarini International Award considers Marco Belinelli, Federico Buffa, Fabio Cannavaro, Alessandro Costacurta, Giuseppe Dossena, Ciro Ferrara, Cesare Fiorio, Francesca Lollobrigida, Gian Paolo Montali, Cesare Prandelli, Roberto Rigali, Clemente Russo and Ambra Sabatini.
Furthermore, the winners of the category ‘Young Athletes’ were Gioele Gallicchio, Nicolo Vacchelli and under 14 Girl’s Basket Ball Team ASD Golf-O-Basket Club. Agnese Mori won the prize for the category ‘Fiamme Gialle Study and Sport’.
Also, the Guests of honour of the 28th FPMIA for the category Fair Play ambassadors were Giancarlo Antognoni, Elisa Di Francisca, Federica Pellegrini, Giorgio Porra and Giusy Versace.
