Zambia: Zambia Football Crew shared the list of 2023 Chipolopolo players who are going to join the camp next week in Saudi Arabia.
As per the list, only Four Chipolopolo dependable players will join camp next week in Saudi Arabia.
Leicester City forward Patson Daka, US Lecce’s wing wizard Lameck Banda, Al Feiha star forward Fashion Sakala Jnr and Scotland-based defender Frankie Chisenga Musonda will only join the camp in Saudi Arabia next week.
The four have club engagements and will only join camp when the FIFA date for releasing players, 1st January comes into play. Daka has been in fine form for the Foxes, netting four goals and setting up two goals in his last five games.
The Chipolopolo Boys’ top goalscorer in the AFCON qualifiers will be in action later today as Leicester visit the Cardiff City Stadium.
Sakala, who is the club’s top goalscorer in the league at Al Feiha with seven goals, has a match this evening at home against Aleksandar Mitrovic-led Al Hilal.
Roderick Kabwe (Zakho Sport-Iraq) is also not yet part of the squad and will likely join the team in Saudi Arabia.
Defender Frankie Chisenga Musonda, who is returning to the Chipolopolo set-up after a long injury lay-off, will also join the team in Saudi Arabia.
The Chipolopolo Boys, who have regrouped in Lusaka and already intensified preparations for the AFCON, will shift base to Saudi Arabia next week.
Musonda will be in action on Saturday as AYR hosts Dunfermline at Somerset Park.
During the Saudi Arabia camp, Zambia will play Cameroon on January 9 in Jeddah, with another match lined up on January 5. The opponent for the January 5 window is yet to be finalised.
Zambia opens its AFCON account on January 17 against Congo DR before facing Tanzania four days later. The final group match is against Morocco on January 24.
