Zambia (Kitwe): A 40-year-old man from Kitwe has been wounded and assaulted by his girlfriend after a misunderstanding. The incident happened on 23rd December, 2023 around afternoon when the victim identified Oscar Chilando attended an end of year party with his girlfriend Naomi Nakafunda.
Copperbelt Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba said after they had differed, the suspect got a knife and started wounding the victim, who sustained two deep cuts on the left leg and a cut on the nose.
“Brief facts of the matter are that on 23rd December 2023 at around 15:00hrs the, Oscar knocked off duty from Nkana East Kitwe and went with his girlfriend Naomi to the end of year party at Fwilas Guest House in Chimwemwe Township Kitwe. After the party, the complainant went with his girlfriend’s house in Chimwemwe, on December 24, 2023, around 01:00hrs the couple deferred and suspect Naomi picked a knife and stabbed a complainant, where the suspect was apprehended and taken to the police post and detained,” he said.
Mweemba added that the suspect girlfriend has since been apprehended and a medical report form was issued to the complainant.
As per the media coverage, Citizens seemed to be taking a stand of the lady instead of the man as they believed it was wrong to ditch their wives and date someone else.
“One of the residents said it was the day of Jesus Christ, and he gave KaRma to that man. He deserved this as he was cheating on her wife and meeting other women in his wife’s presence. Maybe his wife was waiting for him to come home, but he was doing wrong.”
The resident continued by saying, “Because of this man, we all got questioned as women do not trust men because of some man like him. If we need respect, we should also respect women and give them loyalty, then only we can expect anything from them.”
