Mauritius: The government of Mauritius recently hosyed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a mini soccer pitch. The construction for the sports facility has started at Résidence La Chaux in Mahebourg.

The ceremony was held on Tuesday in the presence of several government officials.

The project will be constructed under the budget of Rs 7 million. The facilities will include a mini soccer pitch measuring 21 metres by 12 metres, a pétanque court, and a boundary wall. It will also feature landscaping and the installation of benches, creating an inviting space for community engagement and recreation.

Minister Hurreeram delivered a brief address at the event. He said that the project is highly anticipated among the community. It will offer children and youngsters a platform to practise football.

He also talked about the broader developmental goals for the region, highlighting initiatives such as the MUGA facility in Beau Vallon. On this note, Hurreeram reaffirmed Government’s dedication to serving the best interests of the population.

The government of Mauritius is working hard to ensure that every corner of Mauritius is endowed with quality amenities and robust infrastructure.

Minister Toussaint stressed Government’s vision of establishing comprehensive sports infrastructure throughout Mauritius. He recalled that the National Sport and Physical Activity Policy was launched in 2018.

This policy is designed to encourage individuals to engage in physical activities, thereby promoting better health, and it also underscores the nation’s strong commitment to the importance of sports, he added.

The Minister announced that by providing accessible facilities for sports, Government aims to inspire youngsters to pursue athletic activities, helping them avoid negative influences.

Chief Government Whip Doolub said that they have implemented many developments across different sectors in Mauritius. The aim of the developments is to improve the quality of life of people of all ages. He informed the public that sports activities are available for youngsters to engage in The facilities aim to encourage them to adopt a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
