The Cameroonian National Football Team has appointed Belgian Marc Brys as their new head coach. A contract for two and a half-year has been signed between the two to fulfill the requirements of professional training of the soccer team.
Earlier, there were talks that professional football manager and former player of Italian Serie-A club Roma Jose Mourinho will be appointed as the new coach.
The official ceremony to appoint the new coach for Marc Brys was held on Monday, April 08, 2024, in Yaounde, Douala, Cameroon.
Reportedly, on Saturday, April 06, 2024 the Emergency Committee of FECAFOOT gave the President of the team Samuel Eto’o 72 hours to submit a proposal for the appointment of a new coaching staff for the national football team of Cameroon ‘Indomitable Lions’.
Due to the long ongoing feud between the team and his previous coach Rigobert Song ‘FECAFOOT’ has not updated anyone with any information regarding the new coach. Hence, the appointment of Marc Brys as the new coach was completely rebuffed and delayed.
Upon getting appointed as the new coach for the FECAFOOT team Marc Brys stated anxiously that he is curious and would like to start again.
He added to his statement that they all are ready to put the things in place. “I was very happy with the selection process as it was very professional,” expressed Marc Brys.
The official ceremony for appointing the new coach was hosted on Monday, which was not attended by the president of the Cameroon Football Federation – Samuel Eto’o.
Clarifying the reason for not attending the ceremony, the FECAFOOT president, Samuel Eto’o, issued an official statement and said that he was grateful for being invited to the ceremony. Following which he wanted to inform everyone of the fact that they received the letter just two hours before the said ceremony.
He stated the actual reason and said that, unfortunately, they were busy organising the funeral of their late Dad and due to this, they were not able to attend the ceremony. The funeral of Samuel Eto’o’s father was held at the weekend.
