Jain University to train Zambian teachers in ICT

Zambia: Jain University of Indian origin will train 200,000 teachers in Information and communications technology (ICT). The ministry of Education has signed a memorandum of Understanding with the university for the training exercise.

Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary for Education Services Joel Kamoko talked about the significance of the initiative during the signing ceremony. He said, “Upgrading teacher’s skills in ICT speaks to new methodologies of teaching required in the country.”

Kamoko noted that Zambia desires to become part of the contemporary world in methodology through such training of advancing ICT skills among teachers.

The Permanent Secretary asserted that Zambia wants to become part of the contemporary world in methodology. This mandate can be achieved through such training of advancing ICT skills among teachers.

“The training fits well into the new curriculum framework that is currently undergoing a validation process.” The representative of the education ministry applauded the university for their assistance in making the teachers capable.

He claimed that ICT methods which the beneficiary teachers are yet to acquire will improve quality service. Additionally, it will also help the teacher engage with children of the digital era more easily.

Jain University Chairman Chenraj Roychand also appreciated the opportunity to collaborate with Zambia Ministry of Education on the training initiative. He said the MoU aims to build capacity for Zambian teachers.

Dr Roychand further noted that with Zambia’s progressive economy, the training will impact the children who will be readily equipped for the future.

He added that the training will incapacitate project-based learning for today’s youths who are capable of venturing into smart entrepreneurship, among other activities.

Dr. Roychand assured that the type of training offered are of global standards. This means that after the training  the teachers of Zambia will be able to compete in a modern technology world.

The people of Zambia have also appreciated the officials of the Ministry of Education and the Jain University of Indian origin for providing training to the teachers
