Jammu and Kashmir: Jammu and Kashmir, on December 5, recorded the coldest night of the season at zero degrees Celsius. On the other hand, Srinagar recorded the season’s coldest night with a temperature of -6.4°C.
Because of the windy and coldest nights, the Srinagar famous lake, Dal lake, has frozen, which makes life difficult for the citizens. However, tourists enjoyed the weather and saw a frozen lake.
The resort for travellers in South Kashmir’s Pahalgam recorded the temperature at -9.2°C, and famous resorts like the Ski resort Gulmarg recorded -7.5°C. Awantipora, the temperature was recorded at -8.2°C.
Moreover, the residents of Kashmir seemed unhappy as they were facing difficulties. However, tourists are enjoying this cold weather and snow-clad mountains. And it is for the first time that many tourists are staying in the houseboats on Dal Lake during the extreme winter.
The other coldest places of India, like Ladakh, also witnessed extreme cold waves. The Ladakh temperature was -15.2°C, and the temperature of Kargil was recorded as the lowest temperature ever, which was -16.9°C. The second coldest place, Drass, recorded 23.9°C.
Kashmir’s coldest period, Chillai-Kalan, begins on December 21 and ends on January 31. The baby version of Chillai-Bachha will start on February 20 and end on March 1.
As per the reports of the Met Department, that clear weather will be seen from January 7 and from January 8 to January 10, the weather is expected to be cloudy, and there are chances of snowfall and rain in the province.
