Zambia: Kansanshi Mining PLC has donated computers to about 9 primary schools in the Solwezi District. The donation was made through the company’s Education Quality Improvement Programme (KanEquip).
The company has been dedicatedly working towards the welfare of the people of the country. Through the donation, they want to transform the educational landscape of their communities.
The KanEquip initiative aims to ensure learners have equitable access to information and technology. With access to the best in-line facilities, the students can access improved quality of education standards in the learning facilities.
The Kansanshi Mining PLC is happy to help the students of their community. After the donation, Kansanshi Mine’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Kyansenga Chitoshi, spoke to the media. She said the KanEquip programme is intended to enhance the importance of education.
The company believes that it is one of the most beneficial and sustainable investments to foster economic development in the local communities. Chitoshi stated that information and technology are very important aspects of the growth and development of learners.
Accordingly, the company has put in USD100 to ensure the achievement and sustainability of the project.
“Education is the backbone of socio-economic development and as Kansanshi, our goal is to contribute to improving quality education through resource support such as computers to promote digital transformation for enhanced learning outcomes,” she said.
Head of Corporate Affairs Chitoshi announced that the mining company has partnered with Liquid Intelligent Technologies. The company will help install free internet connectivity at the learning facilities where computers have been donated.
Some learning institutions benefiting from the initiative include Kikombe, Mushitala, Cheshire Homes and Beliya primary schools. Others are Rodwell Mwepu, Makole, St. Charles and Solwezi Urban primary schools.
The country’s people have appreciated the company for their commitment to the welfare of the people. They applauded the company for constantly striving to improve the students’ educational facilities.
