Zimbabwe: Afro singing star Winky D has received two copyright strikes from the recording Label Kenako Music. The musician is struggling with copyright issues for his two popular tracks ‘Disappear’ and ‘Mirror’.
The sensational songs were produced by the label Kenako Music and have triggered the copyright on Winky D’s YouTube Channel.
Reportedly, the songs have been deleted from Winky D’s YouTube channel ‘Winky Online’. The copyright issue has out the artist in a precarious situation.
As per the sources, if he receives the third strike his YouTube channel will be shut down, completely. The copyright matter is affecting his online presence and connection with the fans.
With the third strike, the channel might be terminated which might also erase all content and subscribers associated with it. The matter could also impact Winky D’s ability to share his music and engage with his audience through the popular video sharing platform.
As per the reports, the copyright strikes are attributed to the Kenako Music recording label that produced the songs. The matter was caused as the label has not received royalties from the artist on the two songs.
Moreover, Winky D’s contract with Kenako has been stipulated and the label will receive the royalties from the songs that they would produce.
The song ‘Disappear’ was released by Winky D with his go-to producer – Oskid, when he was still working under Kenako Music Label. The producer parted his ways with the label back in 2015 and launched his own music label ‘Oskid Productions’.
Winky D has not responded officially and has not released anything publicly, yet. While, the fans are eagerly waiting for his statement on the matter, in the hope of insights into the nature of the disputes and resolutions.
Previously, many other artists have faced similar situations and have resolved them by negotiating and licensing agreements. Many have even gone for legal advice to navigate the complex contracts.
