Kenya: The Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) Alex Lemarkoko led a ceremony to commission new instruments for Kenya Forest Service Matching Band. The ceremony was hosted at the Forest Law Enforcement Academy (FoFEA) in Londiani Kericho County today.
The officials have shared several images from the event on their social media account. The officials have shared that during the ceremony, CCF congratulated the band for their steady and progressive growth.
The team’s hard work has earned them a place as one of the top matching bands in the country. He said that the band’s massion for music inspired the authorities to get the new brass instruments to honor their hardwork.
The CCF appreciated the band’s performance at the passout parade for Inspector Cadets and Forester Trainees. The pass out parade was also attended by the President of Kenya, as the chief guest.
He noted that the role of the Kenya Forest Service band was also to help disseminate forestry and environmental messages to the public. He commended them for their resilience and focus which he noted had contributed to their growth.
The CCF said that they plan to turn the band into a specialist unit within the Security and Protection Directorate. He promised to give them the resources to the band including a dedicated vehicle for their transportation.
“We will continue supporting you to undergo specialized training in order to continue improving as a band,” said the CCF.
CCF Alex Lemarkoko urged the band members to maintain their discipline and hard work. He claimed that they were positive ambassadors of the Service through their music. The CCF pledged to provide more support in the future to help the band continue representing the forest service.
The Principal of the Kenya Forestry College (KFC) Dr. Elizabeth Wambugu commended the resilience of the band which sometimes works under strenuous conditions while practising and performing at various events.
The CCF noted that the band was a favorite among the various departments for many events including national ceremonies.
Commanding Officer of FoLEA Appolinary Mwandigha, the KFS Chaplain Bishop Amos Olodapash and the Head of Protocol Wilson Tonkei and the Director of Music IP Charles Bore among other officers were also present at the event.
