Kenya: Hope Zilper was crowned as the new Isambo queen after the conclusion of the 10th edition of Miss Isambo 2023. The event took place on the shores of Lake Victoria at Che’s Bay Resort ahead of the festivals.
As per the update shared by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and the Creative Economy in Kenya, the competition concluded in a colourful ceremony.
The newly crowned Isambo queen is succeeding the previous winner Ruth Wabwire, who won the pageant in 2022. According to the reports, Zilper faced tough competition from her contenders in the tenth edition of the competition.
The newly crowned queen, Zilper is a student of Mount Kenya University. She faced and overtook stiff competition from 20 worthy competitors. The competitors came from various parts of Kenya and Uganda.
The newly crowned winner walked away with Kes.100,000 after she was announced the winner. According to the updates from the ministry, the pageant attracted more than 100 applicants across the country and beyond.
The Minister of Youth Affairs, Ababu Namwamba was present at the event to support the initiative. He encouraged and appreciated the pageanters who were competing for the title of the Isambu queen.
Meanwhile, the competitors who entered the roll of honour as brand ambassadors include:
- Ann Nekesa for the Inclusivity agenda,
- Tiffany Faith for representing culture,
- Eunice Toiy for Green Economy,
- Hellen Akello -Blue Economy
- Ugandan Ms Faith Kulubi carrying the mantle in the Orange Economy.
- The winner of the pageant, Zilper is set to represent the Brand Isambo.
Ababu Namwamba Foundation’s ambassadorial role as well as the Ambassador of ChesBay Resort from the outgoing Beauty Queen Ruth Wabwire.
Since its inception, Isambo Beach Carnival has grown beyond Kenya’s Border, becoming one of Kenya’s most popular festivals, attracting visitors from as far as the US, China, Japan and the Middle East.
The people of Kenya have congratulated the winner through their social media. Some users have also expressed their appreciation for the work that Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba did for the success of the pageant.
