Kenya: Cde Tong Akeen Ngor, the SPLM Chairperson of Northern Bahr El Ghazal State, graced farewell to 2022 and welcomed the new year 2023 with a Party in the State SPLM House. The SPLM in NBGs annually organizes a dinner for the farewell and welcoming of the new year.
The Farewell celebration was attended by Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan and Chair of Services Cluster, the SPLM Members of NLC, Members of the State Liberation Council, Executive Caucuses, State Secretariat members, County SPLM Interim Chairpersons, Head of other Political Parties, the SPLM Youth League, Women league, Disables league among other members.
In his remarks, the State SPLM Chairperson, Cde Tong Akeen, appreciated and thanked the SPLM Secretariat in NBGs for organizing such a fruitful annual dinner for the Party. Besides, he took an opportunity to brief the members of the Party in the State on recent resolutions passed by the SPLM Political Bureau and National Liberation Council members, which includes the nomination and confirmation of Cde Salva Kiir Mayardit as the SPLM Chairman in the upcoming Party Convention and the SPLM Presidential flag bearer in the forthcoming general elections.
Cde Chairperson briefed the members about newly appointed members of the Political Bureau and National Liberation Council from Northern Bahr El Ghazal, where three (3) are the PB members, namely; Cde Dr Benjamin Bol Mel, Cde Kuol Athian Mawien and Cde Angela Uguak Aaron and over twenty (20) are members of NLC.
Most importantly, Cde Tong Akeen once again congratulates the SPLM Chairman, Cde Salva Kiir Mayardit, for the wise appointment and confirmation of three Deputies of the SPLM Chairman.
These include:
- Cde, Dr James Wani Igga, as the First Deputy,
- Cde Daniel Awet Akot as the Second Deputy and
- Cde Kuol Manyang Juk as the third Deputy.
Cde Tong applauded the confirmation of Cde Peter Lam Both as the SPLM Secretary General and appreciated the appointment of two Deputy Secretaries, namely, Cde Akol Paul Koordit, the First Deputy Secretary and Cde Tulio Odongi, the Second Deputy Secretary.
On other notes, the State SPLM Chairperson called on the parties to the Revitalized Peace Agreement in the State to work together with the SPLM for the smooth implementation of the revitalized peace in accordance with the Roadmap 2022.

He highlighted to the State Members of the SPLM the recently signed Roadmap 2022, which extended the Revitalized Peace Agreement for 24 months so that the outstanding provisions in the Revitalized Peace accord are fully implemented.
Furthermore, Cde Tong Akeen assured the gathering and especially the members of the Party about the preparedness of the SPLM party to win the upcoming general elections in the Country. Meanwhile, he urged the State SPLM Secretariat to put in action all the directives and Programs from the National Secretariat to promote the activities of the SPLM in the State.
Lastly, Cde Tong Akeen Ngor, the State SPLM Chairperson, took an opportunity to convey heartfelt condolences to the family of the Late Cde John Kong Nyuon, who passed on in Nairobi, Kenya, this week.
“On behalf of the entire members of SPLM in NBGs and on my own, I convey our heavy, heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends, SPLM leadership and colleagues for the untimely departure of the liberator and icon Cde Gen. John Kong. May almighty God console and conform his family at this tragic moment,” Cde Tong stated.
