Botswana: The Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Skills Development Kgopotso Ramoroka has expressed her gratitude to the University of Botswana Foundation Donors. They have worked diligently for the betterment of the education sector in the country.
The donors have offered their unwavering support and dedication to the education sector in Botswana. The Minister of education of and Skill development has also appreciated the donors who have helped the various educational institutions.
The Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Skills Development made the remarks at an event hosted by the University of Botswana. The officials of the Ministry of Education were present at the event.
The aim of the event was to honour and appreciate the UB Foundation Donors.
Meanwhile Permanent Secretary Kgopotso Ramoroka was attending as a representative of the Minister of Education et al. She took the opportunity to share some glimpses from the event on the social media account of the Ministry.
Further, Ramoroka expressed gratitude towards the donors for the commitment they have shown. The donations from the people of goodwill have helped the government in nurturing talent, restoring dignity and raising the quality of life of the less privileged fellow citizens.
He said the foundation which started in the year 2000. The members of the UB Foundation donors have so far awarded three hundred and fifty (350) students with scholarships. The beneficiaries of the scholarships are spread through the various disciplines of the University.
“Employment rate in our country is worrisome to us all and in particular the government but the support from all of you is comforting, as we hope that the beneficiaries of scholarships will not only aspire to be employers, but also innovators.”
Vice Chancellor of the University of Botswana, Professor David Norris, delivered the closing remarks at the event. He also spoke of the significant role that the donors have played in the development of the education sector.
Vice Chancellor of the University of Botswana Professor David Norris thanked the donors for providing resources that support scholarships. He said research and innovation can only be possible through partnerships between the University, the Government, and civil society.
The people of the country have expressed their delight to see the stringent efforts and commitment of the ministry to upgrade the education sector of Botswana constantly.
