Khayelitsha Fashion Week amazes Cape Town being ‘Grounded In Nature’

South Africa: Khayelitsha Fashion Week was observed on June 29, 2024 at the Artscape, organised on the theme ‘Grounded In Nature.’  The fashion week was a vibrant and colourful event that stands out as a show of creativity, elegance and empowerment.

Reportedly, the fashion show was celebrated along with the incredible stories and talents behind each piece. Fashion is more than just clothing, it’s an expression of identity and a testament to innovation. It was also a reflection of rich history and culture, both as a nation and Cape Town people.

The event also served as a platform to showcase the diverse cultures. Khayelitsha Fashion Week contributed to the huge numbers of jobs because for each designer to finish a product, there was a need of group of people to sew clothes and each one needed a number of different colours of sewing tread reel core string cotton and sewing machines.

The Week saw amazing designers and their shared vision. Their hard work and creativity inspired all those who were present there. The models walked the ramp and brought the designs by the fashion designers to life with grace and confidence.

The sponsors were also valued for their support as the ‘City of Cape Town’ and ‘Let’s Hold Hands Together’ supported SMME’s. They are a vital instrument for job creation and made them realise to envisage open opportunity of South Africa for all CCT upcoming artists, designers and young entrepreneurs.

Cape Town was amazed to see the thrilling fashion week which is a part of an extravaganza and is also pledging the financial support for the organisers to higher and higher.

All in whole, it was a great show, which was enjoyable and celebrated the beauty in diversity and remembered that the fashion is a powerful force that brought them all together.

Khayelitsha Fashion Week is a platform that showcases skills and talents of aspiring fashion designers along with professional photographers and also the models. The show has been conducted for the last 8 years and was founded by the popular well known Zibonele FM breakfast show host – Bongani Matenjwa.

The production is professionally organized with lights, ramp (Runway), Performances, new designs and trained models. The work of this event has been so successful that it has managed to secure the big partnerships such as MTN, Artscape, City of Cape Town, SABC Education, Ngalo Security, Radio Zibonele, Brand Magazine, etc.
