Cameroon: The Afro singer Kocee is disappointed as he found that nobody knows him in Nigeria and stated “Nobody knows me in Nigeria”.
Kocee who is a, A-list Cameroonian artist has conducted a vox pop in the streets of Lagos, Nigeria to test his popularity.
The shocking thing was that one recognised the artist. He was identified by two people after he played ‘Deux oeufs Spaghetti’. The two strangers who recognised Kocee had seen him earlier on TikTok but were still unaware of the artist’s name and did not know the author.
Seeing this and getting such unexpected and disappointed response Kocee said, “with all the millions of views I have almost 100 million views and nobody knows me in Nigeria.”
The Afro-artist added, “There’s a lot of work to be done. I won’t leave this place way somebody no know me. They get to know me.”
Though in Cameroon it’s completely different, some girls are star struck. As they see him Kocee those girls start screaming and even faint after seeing the serial hitmaker.
The rapper has recently got his facebook page revived and after that he changed the name to Kocee from his previous intials Ko-C. The singer has updated all his social media handles to the username as Kocee.
Kocee’s real name is Njang Mengu Collins, and Ko-C is his stage name. The 32-year-old serial hitmaker regained his lost Facebook page, which had close to 1 million followers.
Considering this, many people have supported the artist and said that it is difficult to get recognised in every place as Nigeria in itself is very huge and is occupied and takes interest in their artists.
A person named Ayompe Meghan Becky said, “Nigerians are so many, and everyone is fighting to be seen and heard. How we go fit imagine say them go know we when they don’t even know each other.”
Encouraging the artist a person on social media with the username Na Lum commented, “keep going king, you will get there.”
Another user Lara P. New expressed, “He’s a smart guy. I’m sure he’s already drafting ways to make himself known on the other side!”
