Kenya Ports Authority reaffirmed its commitment to transform the customer experience. KPA pledged to continue its investment in port infrastructure and to improve its business processes.
Recently, KPA Corporate Golf Dinner was held at the Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi. The authority outlined various ongoing initiatives that will enhance the capacity and overall efficiency of port facilities.
Construction of berth 19B at the Port of Mombasa in the major highlight. This will enhance the capacity of the port and equipment modernisation program. Also, it will roll out the new Terminal Operating System (TOS) to enhance the cargo handling.
During the engagement, General Manager of KPA Corporate Services – Edward Kamau read the speech on behalf of the Managing Director – Capt. William Ruto. He said that their primary objective is to guarantee unparalleled operational efficiency for the benefit of the customers.
Kamau also emphasised the positive performance recorded across the port facilities. Also, Lamu Port witnessed increase in ship traffic that turned out to be impressive.
According to the KPA General Manager, the port received 32 vessels in the month of August, out of which 13 were container vessels, along with conventional cargo and fishing vessels.
The Golf Dinner was a culmination of the annual KPA Corporate Golf Tournament, which was held at the same club, which brought over 250 golfers from across the country, alongside key customers and stakeholders.
The event served as a good strategic platform for KPA management to directly engage with its partners. It majorly focused on identifying unique business concerns and needs to drive the operational efficiency.
Chege Mbugua was crowned as the overall champion of the tournament. Playing off a handicap of 15, Mbugua delivered a stellar performance, scoring 41 Stableford points to clinch the title from a highly competitive field.
