South Africa: The residents of Ngolotshe were happy like children when they saw candy today when KwaZulu-Natal Health Minister Nomagugu Simelane KwaNongoma came to the sports ground in ward 11 under the KwaNongoma Municipality in the Zululand region to bring the hospital health program to the people.
In the past years, during the apartheid government, it was not easy for people in rural areas to get health services, and some ended up passing away because they were not quick to get health services if they were too tired to get sick.
In this hospital system, almost all health services are available to the people. Only the surgical site is hidden.
Some of the health services include eye care as there are ophthalmologists, dentists and chronic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure. It is also checked for various cancers including cervical cancer in women and breast cancer. And for men who are more than 40 years old, their device is checked to see if they have prostate cancer.
For those who wish to be circumcised, they are circumcised right away, but children under the age of majority must obtain permission from their parents before they are circumcised. There are also tests for HIV and tuberculosis (TB), all of which are free of charge.
Elderly people who need crutches get crutches, as well as those with poor eyesight are tested and get glasses right away. Then those who need wheelchairs (Wheel chairs) with disabilities get them in time after being examined by doctors.
This program of delivering services directly to the community reduces the burden on the community as some have to travel a long distance or ride to receive health care. But all this is just a dream, as Health is going directly to the community in addition to the mobile clinics that come to the community.
