South Africa: KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Human Settlements and Public Works Sipho “KK” Nkosi hosted a very extensive service delivery oriented Stakeholder Management and Outreach Programme in uMkhanyakude District Municipality’s two local municipalities this weekend.
MEC “KK” Nkosi officiated in six events, including two launches of Rural Housing Projects in Jozini Local Municipality on Friday, 14 July 2023. Later on Friday evening MEC Nkosi hosted AmaKhosi from the Local House of Traditional Leadership, mainly from Big Five False Bay Local Municipality in Hluhluwe, to discuss matters of mutual interest.
On Saturday, 15 July 2023, MEC Nkosi officiated at the launch of two Rural Housing Projects in iNkosi Mtubatuba Local Municipality at Machekane and Nkombose. He also officiated at the handing over of a house in the Nkombose area.
The Friday rural housing projects launched are the Ward 5 Rural Housing Project and Siqakatha Rural Housing Project in Wards 5 & 6, respectively. Each Rural Housing Project costs R49 million and has a combined total beneficiary yield of 2 000.
However, MEC Nkosi launched Phase One of the two projects, consisting of 300 housing units each.
As part of his outreach to traditional leadership, MEC Nkosi hosted Big Five False Bay based AmaKhosi on Friday evening in Hluhluwe, where they discussed several service delivery matters affecting their respective traditional councils.
On Saturday, the MEC for Human Settlements and Public Works started his day with the official launch of the 300-unit Phase One of the Siyathuthuka Rural Housing Project in Machekane in Ward 19 of iNkosi Mtubatuba Local Municipality. This project has cost R47 million.
After that, he proceeded to Nkombose in Ward 11, also in iNkosi Mtubatuba Local Municipality when he officiated at the handover of a newly constructed house of the Mpukunyoni Rural Housing Project which he later launched at the nearby Nkombose Sportsgrounds.
The Mpukunyoni Rural Housing Project straddles six Wards, and MEC Nkosi launched Phase One of the 850-unit rural housing project, which has cost R95 million.
