Cape Town: Wesgro supported Cape Town Air Access celebrated LATAM’s new direct route between São Paulo and Cape Town. The airline announced three direct flights per week between São Paulo (GRU) and Cape Town (CPT) which will begin from September 2026.
Reportedly, it will be the first South American carrier to fly to the Cape Town, and this represents an important milestone in strengthening the Western Cape’s global connectivity.
The LATAM Airline direct flights will be operated on the Boeing 787-9. The route will offer passengers a modern and efficient long-haul experience.
It will be a new connection that will unlock exciting opportunities for tourism, trade and investment between Africa and South America. This initiative underscores the growing global demand for Cape Town and the Western Cape as a world-class tourism and business destination.
Member of the Mayoral Committee for Economic Growth and Tourism – Alderman James Vos acknowledged this achievement and shared an official post on his social media handle. He posted a picture of LATAM airplane and announced Bib, big news for Cape Town!
He said, LATAM Airlines is officially launching direct flights between São Paulo in Brazil and Cape Town from September 2026, as a massive win for tourism, trade, investment and especially for the ones and everyone who loves seeing the city rise on the world stage.
This announcement has genuinely excited me, said James Vos. He further stated that on a previous trade mission to São Paulo, he met with the LATAM team to talk about exactly this kind of connection, as now it’s becoming a reality.
According to him, moments like this now remind him why they should push so hard to open new routes for the region. He gave a shout-out to the Air Access partnership at Wesgro for the behind-the scenes work that helps them in making these wins possible.
