African Vibration Music Festival is all set to conduct the biggest concert of Zimbabwean singers at McKinney, Texas in USA. For the year 2024 with the theme ‘Connect to the rhythm and culture’.
The music fest will be held in the month of June on 29th at the selected venue District 121, 6731 Alma RD, McKinney, TX 75070 around 2:00 p.m. till 10:00 p.m.
The African Vibration Music Festival will bring the electrifying and unforgettable performances from Africa’s most talented artists. The fest sets up the stage to celebrate the rich African music and culture.
It bridges the gap between the different continents and unites us all through the universal language of music, where traditional beats meet modern flavors. They will all be highlighted every month at the end of June in Dallas Metroplex, Texas, USA.
The music fest actually expects people to groove on the thumping beats of the chosen celebrity singers.
The African Vibration Music Festival is presented or organized by Yolk Magic. The fest will feature the Zimbabwean artists Thomas Mapfumo, band Mokoomba, and singer Sulu Chimbetu.
Thomas Mapfumo
He is an African folk music artist and is a legendary musician who affectionately known as the Lion of Zimbabwe who coined and popularized as a unique music genre which is known as Chimurenga.
Chimurenga is a word from the Shona language that means struggle or liberation. People started using it in a common language during the Rhodesian Bush War.
His music is mainly based on social and political protests that conveys the western popular styles and assorted music of south-eastern Africa. It incorporates Zimbabwe’s traditional instrument that is called Mbira or Thump piano.
Mokoomba
The Zimbabwean musical band originally hails from Chinotimba township, Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. The band sings in various languages, including English, Luvale, Tonga, Nyanja, Ndebele, and Shona.
Mokoomba is a word derived from the Tonga language that is defined as deep respect for the Zambezi River and the vibrant life along its bank.
The band is known for its traditional and modern instruments and variety of international pop and pan-African styles which includes soukous, funk and reggae that brings together different cultures from Southern-east and Central African part.
Sulu Chimbetu
Another folk musician that the African fest will consist of is Sulu Chimbetu, who is a Dendera music vocalist, songwriter and guitarist. He is also a composer and a stage performer.
Chimbetu is known as the frontman of the Orchestra Dendera Kings and the son of the late African music icon Simon Chimbetu, who popularised the Dendera music genre.
Dendera is famous for creating unique rhythms based on the sounds of wild birds called Ground Hornbills, or Dendera in Zimbabwe’s native language, Shona.
