Cape Town: Tenants in Leonsdale Community Residential Units (CRUs) are the most recent beneficiaries of title deeds as part of the ongoing title deed handover campaign of the city. The city is creating more homeowners by handing out the deeds in areas across the metro, providing security of tenure and contributing to financial stability. While in the area, the city also held a roadshow event to give residents the opportunity to speak to the city staff right at their doorstep.
Considering this, Member of the Mayoral Committee for Human Settlements – Councillor Carl Pophaim said that it was his pleasure to join Ward Councillor Franchesca Walker to take the Human Settlements roadshow campaign on the road to make more homeowners in Leonsdale. After years of being a tenant in one of the CRUs of the city, they are creating homeowners with the No Cost Transfer Campaign.

He said that he is proud to be going across the metro, making sure that they create more homeowners in the city. Residents are encouraged to visit the roadshows when they are in their area to see if the title deed for their property is on the list of available deeds. He claimed that the deal will give security of tenure as well as formalise the ownership.
The roadshows are an opportunity for residents to interact directly with Human Settlements officials who are available to offer real time solutions to queries and answers to questions. All Departments are available at the roadshow events and are able to provide information on a number of issues regarding housing and opportunities.

Pophaim said that they are serious about attending to residents’ matters in their area and bring services directly to them. the directorate is the housing one-stop shop for the city. There is no organisation who does this on their behalf and nobody is authorised to collect residents’ information on their behalf
The roadshows and Title Deed campaign have been incredibly successful for some time now and they have much more to come. They are building hope in Cape Town together, bringing one new homeowner at a time.
