Cape Town: Macassar families are the most recent beneficiaries of title deeds for their homes as part of the metro-wide title deed handover campaign by the City of Cape Town. The Deed to Door campaign has been ongoing for more than a year as the City works hard to hand out the deeds and create more homeowners, by providing security of tenure and contributing to financial stability.
At the same time, the City of Cape Town held a roadshow event that gave residents the opportunity to speak to the city officials directly in their neighbourhood.
Considering this, Member of the Mayoral Committee for Human Settlements – Councillor Carl Pophaim said that he is excited to be in a Macassar to spend time with the residents. The city is making a meaningful impact on the lives of people in the communities with every title deed they hand over.
They have been working through the initial list of thousands of unlinked deeds and are committed to deliver as many as they can. By going across the metro, they are delivering title deeds and advancing the shared journey towards home ownership. Thye understand that visiting a housing office is not always easy, so they are bringing the services directly to the people.
Moreover, it is meaningful to see the city officials representing various Human Settlements Departments all in one venue to offer advice and guidance to the residents. This is a part of city’s commitment that through the roadshows, they are bringing services to the people.
They are taking Human Settlements directly to communities. They are always looking forward to engage with even more residents as they roll the next phase of this programme in the coming weeks. It is a journey to build up Cape Town together.
