A friendly football match was held in Liberia on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Invincible Sports Park, Monrovia. The match was held as part of the International Volunteers Day celebration. The Liberia Unites, a Non-Profit Organisation, joined several other organizations to mark the event.

The partnered organizations were UNV Liberia, Ecowas Volunteer Programme, Liberia, and other volunteer-related organizations.

The match was held between Liberia Unites and the Young Men’s Christian Association of Liberia, YMCA. The event was celebrated to recognize and honour the contributions from across the world. The event brought together volunteers from across Montserrado County.

The Teams and the surrounding communities had fun, they share experiences and network.

The Liberia Unites marked the celebration and shared that it will continue till next week with a webinar and an indoor program. During the following week, the deserving volunteers will be seen receiving certificates in recognition of their contributions to society.

Reportedly, International Volunteers Day is an annual event celebrated to honour and recognize the invaluable work of Volunteers and organizations. These Volunteers inspired people to engage themselves in volunteer activities and contribute their ideas to build themselves better in the world.

The Day is celebrated every year today, (Tuesday), December 5, 2023. The Day is observed to recognize the volunteers potential and hard work, which inspires others to bring a change in themselves.

The theme of National Volunteers Day 2023 is that Volunteering weaves us together. The theme reveals the importance of Volunteering, which brings strength and embraces the vibrancy of the communities through their interconnected actions and support.

The Day is celebrated to reflect the nation’s support and respect towards volunteers. The Volunteers serve themselves with their selfless efforts and put their dedication, time and skills to make the outer world into a positively changed and transformed society.
