Zimbabwe: The health care sectors of Zimbabwe has marked another milestone where local surgeons have recently performed the life-changing surgery to remove tumor from the mouth of Laston Kwinika, a 64 year old, adult man from Beitbridge which was growing more than from the past 17 years.
Kwinika first gained the attention by highlighting the struggles and impacts of the tumor he had on his daily life. It was exaggerated when the well-wishers with the funds assisted his surgery.
Reportedly, a team of local surgeons performed the surgery on Kwinika and he soon gain the conscious and will be well.
Laston Kwinika still faces difficulty in speaking but has expressed the gratitude to all of them who had made his operation a success.
He stated that, “Without any support, I would never have had this operation. I am very glad and grateful to everyone who assisted.”

Milliet Ndou, wife of Laston Kwinika said that she has almost lost hope after selling all her livestock that she has saved which included donkeys to raise money for the medical bills and many more other savings.
Kwinika began to face the problem with a small pimple on his gums that he received in 2007, which continued to grow further until it had become a huge mass occupying the better part of his mouth.
His family visited the numerous hospitals in Zimbabwe and South Africa but got no joy as no doctor could assist with his condition.
At that time, Kwinika and his family was referred to Parirenyatwa Hospital but was not able to raise the money that was needed for the surgery.
After which, Milliet Ndou visited the Herald’s office in Beitbridge and the community radio station where her last attempt at affording her husband an assemblance for a better life.
Kwinika’s wife, Ndou stated, “I am very grateful to everyone who heard my plea and came forward to assist us. I would never have managed to do this on my own but it became possible only due to those who were moved by my husband’s plight and gave us their money and their prayers.”
She stated further that she would like to thank all the doctors who operated on my husband. “I was not sure that they would be able to remove that big tumor but when I saw him after the surgery, he was a different man. Above all, I thank God for making all this possible,” said Milliet Ndou.
After the surgery, Kwinika was briefly admitted to the High Dependency Unit from where he was discharged on Monday to the general wards, after getting treated.
