Zambia: The Kenya Forest Service is hosting the launch ceremony for the long rains season tree planting activities in the country. The tree planting activities are important for the country to meet the mandate of covering 30% of the country’s landmass with forest.
The Kenya Forest Service is hosting the event at Siongiroi block, Chepalungu Forest station, in Bomet County. The launch ceremony will be hosted on Thursday with several government officials and members of the Kenya Forest Service in attendance.
The launch event is being hosted under the theme, 15 Billion Trees by 2032, Wajibu Wefu. The Kenya Forest Service issued an invitation for all the members of the community to attend the launch event.
The event will be open for the people to join starting from 8:00 AM To 12 PM.
The Long rains season tree planting activities are one of the many initiatives of the Kenyan Administration. The events fall in line with President William Ruto’s vision of planting 15 Billion trees in Kenya by 2032.
The President announced the initiative during a national address in December 2022. The president of the country is committed to conquer the threat of climate change with large scale tree plantation. The restoration of forest cover within the nation will play an important role in reducing the affect of the climate crisis.
The launch event for the long rains’ seasons tree planting activities is open or all attendants. The aim of the initiative is to bring all the members of the community together to work for a collective aim.
The event will be attended by several crucial members of the government who will play their respective roles in making the event a success. Â Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry Soipan Tuya will lead the tree planting activity.
The Cabinet Secretary will be accompanied by the Chief Conservator of Forests, Alex Lemarkoko. The Forest Service has promised that the event will be fun filled and with friendly company.
