Malawi: Health workers at Malomo Community Hospital in Ntchisi have expressed their concern over the shortage of medical personnel in the region. The officials have shared that the inadequate health personnel is affecting the overall delivery of services at the hospital.
The observation was made when the Deputy Minister of Health, Halima Daudi and other officials were inspecting the construction works of a new laboratory. The administration has been dedicated to ensuring that healthcare facilities can be availed by all members of society.
Thus, the Deputy Minister of Health visited the construction of the laboratory in the community hospital of Zuze Khonde. The healthcare authorities shared some glimpses from the visit on social media.
A clinical officer at the community hospital Zuze Khonde disclosed that the institution has a shortage of medical staff. According to Khonde, the hospital has 3 doctors, 6 nurses, and 1 pharmacist.
The officials further shared that, on average, they reached out to 3000 patients each day. The people of the country have shared their acknowledgement of the situation and appreciated the efforts of the administration to combat the situation.
On her part, Deputy Minister of Health Halima Daudi, said this is why the government is working on the recruitment of health workers. Once the health workers are posted in hospitals across the country, it will work significantly to ease the challenge.
Recently government announced that it has plans to recruit about 5858 health workers with support from the Global Fund to fill the gaps in the health sector. The minister of health also talked to the management of the Malomo Community Hospital to get an idea of other challenges.
They have pledged their support to the organization working for the benefit of the people of Ntchisi district which need the community clinic for easy access to healthcare facilities.
