Botswana: A 22-year-old man from Nkange village in Kasane has committed suicide in his home using an electrical cable. It is alleged to have happened on Thursday. The family and loved ones of the deceased are in a state of shock.
The deceased was found hanging from a rafter by his friend who alerted the landlord and neighbours. The landlord and the neighbours in turn alerted the police. Notably, the door of the room in which the body was discovered had been locked from the inside.
Upon arrival, the police broke the door open and discovered the body.
They found out the suicide note which said, “For the pain I have every day . Please give my things to my brother Samson please. Goodbye all my family , my father and mother . I want to find a good place to live . thank you.”
His note concluded with “password of laptop is superage . Goodbye my mum I love you mum bye bye “. The note showed how much he loved his mother.
The deceased was suffering from pain and mental trauma the reason for which can not be ascertained.
The suicide note was haunting, as it depicts that no matter how much he was in love with family he still chose suicide. Hanging himself up meant an easy way for him, rather than facing the reality of his life.
Kasane Police Station Commander Othusitise Marape confirmed the incident. He informed the media that they received a phone call reporting the incident. After the call, the police force was dispatched to the scene.
The police force started their investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, it can be assumed that the victim was under immense mental pressure, leading to the tragedy.
In light of this, the Marape Police Commander urged the people and especially the youth to open up whenever they have any problem in their lives. He further stated that social workers are also available to assist in these situations.
While people of Kasane extended their condolences to the grieving family and showed their concern by comments and posts.
