Malawi: Muslim students at Mangochi Secondary School have reached out to the authorities asking them to make arrangements for Iftar and Suhoor. The students have been living in the hostel of the Mangochi Secondary School.
The Muslim students of the educational institutions asked for assistance with food in light of the approaching month of Ramadan. The month of Ramadan will start on March 10 and conclude on April 9, 2024.
The Muslim community worldwide commemorates the month with fasting and prayer. The thirty days of prayer and fasting culminate in the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The chairman of Mangochi Secondary School, Rajab Kasim, represented the students. He expressed concern about food shortages while speaking at a get-together organized by students at the Imam Bukhar Islamic Center. The school’s Muslim students’ chairperson, Rajab Kasim, also added that the quantity of food they receive is insufficient.
Therefore, he confessed that many students struggle with fasting during this period. Kasim emphasized the importance of support from well-wishers. The aim is to ensure that all students can observe Ramadan comfortably.
Meanwhile, Wadah Kasim who is responsible for organizing food at the school, appealed for assistance from individuals and organizations in providing iftar and sehoor meals.
Mangochi Secondary School accommodates 106 Muslim students who require support during Ramadan. The authorities have reiterated that the month-long festivities will start in less than a week. The people of the country have expressed their support to the students and called on people of goodwill to support them.
The country’s people have expressed that they want to support the students at the school. The donation of the food items will be facilitated through the Mangochi Secondary School.
The authorities involved in the project have been working hard to ensure that the students can observe their prayer and fast in peace.
