South Africa: Free State Premier Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae joined the Department of Health’s festive season health and safety campaign. The campaign is being held at the Shell Ultra City in Bloemfontein and seeks to make the community safer during the festive season.
The aim of the programme is to make sure that the members of the community are informed about the importance of safe road usage. Road safety, which is a major cause of concern for the people in the festive season is being addressed through the campaign.
The Free State Provincial Government has extended their support to the various departments involved in the project. The health department and the other offices within the province shared some images from the campaign on their social media account.
The aim of the health and safety campaign for the 2024 festive season is to educate road users. The young as well as old were made aware of the rules of road safety and its importance.
The road users were enlightened on the various precautions that they will be taking for the benefit of the community.
The Premier took this opportunity to interact with many of the travelers who are visiting the province for the festive season while others were traveling outside the Free State. She also took some time to undertake roadworthy inspections, which led to traffic fines and in some cases the end of a trip to those who did not adhere to the law.
The Premier also used the opportunity to interact with officials of various departments. She thanked them for their hard-work and dedication to serving the people and most importantly for availing themselves for this important program.
Premier of the Free State Province Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae has called on motorists to exercise caution. They were asked to adhere to the legal speed limit, ensure that they are well-rested and hydrated as they continue their journeys. She also wished them a safe and wonderful festive season.
