South Africa: Premier MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae embarked on a second visit to the Free State Psychiatric Complex on Saturday. She visited the facility for the first time in July on Thursday. The aim of the event was to make sure that the facility gas access to everything they need to deliver quality.
The Premier has visited the establishment two times in a single week. However, she emphasised to the staff that it was not her intention to “police” them. She was accompanied by several members of the Department of Health and MEC for Health Monyatso Mahlatsi.
On the contrary, they want to offer support to the organization to ensure that patients receive good care. The Premier and the Member of the Executive Council for health have visited health institutions of the province.
They are dedicated to providing quality healthcare to the people in need.
“We must speak out against the wrongs in our institutions, but equally, we must give credit where it is due. The facility is very clean and I would like to thank you all for taking care of these wonderful people,. I have been informed that some of the employees use their own money to buy soap and toothpaste for the patients. That is love and I thank you for that” she said.

Both the Premier and MEC Mahlatsi donated mattresses, fruits, blankets, pyjamas and slippers. CEO of the complex Mohlophehi Nkala thanked Premier Letsoha-Mathae for the visit and recommitted to providing quality service to the patients.
Mamokete Molantoa, Food Service Assistant said she was grateful to see the Premier at the facility. “I was informed that the Premier was at the facility and I came running because I wanted to express my gratitude to her. I am beyond happy,” she exclaimed.
Before leaving, the children of the facility once again took centre stage, this time praying the Lord’s prayer.
