During the interview, which was hosted on 08 August 2024, the Premier of Free State highlighted the plans that she has for the 7th Provincial Legislature. The officials have shared that the opening of the 7th provincial legislature under Premier MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae was a crucial.
During the interview, Premier Maqueen reflected on his consequential Opening of the Provincial Legislature Address. The premier recollected that the delivered at a packed to capacity City Hall in Bloemfontein.
The officials have shared that during the interview the Premier talked about the various aspects of her historic address. She highlighted that her plans aligned to six key priority areas of putting the Free State to work.
The priority areas include:
- Building the province’s industries to achieve an inclusive economy
- Tackling the high cost of living for the communities of Free state
- Investing in people
- Ensuring the work of the local government continues to delivers
- The government under Premier MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae, will take concrete steps to Defending democracy
- Advancing the basic freedoms enshrined in the constitution
She also shared several plans afoot for the province to contribute towards a better future for South Africa.
The officials further shared that the Premier has further reiterated government plans to grow the economy. She said that they will be working with various stakeholders and partners to meet this mandate.
At the same time, whilst also reflecting on infrastructure development as well as reviving the tourism sector and township economy, in efforts to ensure that the Free State becomes a destination of choice for investment and development.
The Premier indicated that the province will establish a framework for intergovernmental cooperation. The aim of the plan was for integrated planning, growth and development between other neighbouring provinces.
In her interview, the Premier briefly touched on how the province will address unemployment, reignite economic growth, eradicate poverty and reduce inequality, as part of government’s unwavering commitment to create a better life for all.
