Botswana: The Mayor of Gaborone City Austin Abraham met with the Botswana Table Tennis Association (BTTA). The City Mayor aims to appreciate the organization for their work on securing the venues for the Africa Youth Games (AYG).
The games will be held in July 2024 in Gaborone. He commended the BTTA for hosting an event of such magnitude. He also extended his best wishes to the organization in organizing the sports event successfully.
He acknowledged the remarkable progress that the team has made in promoting the younger generation of the country. Botswana Table Tennis Association has been encouraging youngsters from all over the country to pursue their talents.
The Mayor of Gaborone further acknowledged the contributions of the indoor sport. He said BTTA has also elevated youth by targeting communities and engaging youth in playing Table Tennis.
The efforts of the organization have hence resulted in the rapid growth in the sport. During the meeting with the BTTA, Mayor Austin Abraham also appreciated all the sponsors.
He thanked them for offering a helping hand to the BTTA which adding impact in the development of table tennis in Botswana.
BTTA President Kudzanani Motswagole also thanked their sponsors for working with them on the development of the sport. He also spoke about the importance of sponsorship that he has received from various sources.
He alleged that it came at a crucial time as the association prepares for the two major tournaments to grow Table Tennis at a local level. He further thanked the sponsors and stakeholders who continue to support BTTA in their endeavour.
Chief Finance Officer Rahul Srivastava of Phoenix Assurance Botswana said that are happy to work with BTTA. He recounted that the partnership started in 2019 and has since been yielding magnificent results.
The CFO assured that all participants of the Table Tennis Tournaments will be insured if any injuries occur. The BTTA announced that they have partnered with stakeholders such as Ave Maria Hotel & Conferencing, BOTHO Campus and Turnstar Holdings.
The aim of these partnerships is to ensure the success of the upcoming major tournaments.
