South Africa: The Departments of the KwaZulu Natal administration came together to host a integrated outreach programme. The major contributors of the programme include Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Department of Education under MEC Mbali Frazer and Siboniso Duma.
The event is hosted on a regular basis to promote the development of the province. The other stakeholders included the Mayor of Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Local Municipality, Cllr Jojozi, and INkosi Memela. They visited various development initiatives of the province,
The outreach programme’s visits started with the Official Handover of the Biomass Plant to Phambili Energy Invests Rural. Afterwards, MEC for Education Mbali Frazer and MEC Duma led the Official Disbursement of funds for the anticipated Operation Vula Fund. The money was given to 100 project beneficiaries.
The officials have shared some glimpses from the integrated outreach programme on the official social media accounts of the various departments. The officials have shared that the MEC for Education has been committed to the development of the people through various initiatives.
She had previously promised to help secure suitable transportation for the schools providing education to children with special needs. MEC Frazer had promised to replace the old school buses of the schools as they are not suitable for transporting students with special needs.
The authorities have shared that the two Members of the Executive Council handed over six buses, at a total cost of R15 million. The buses were handed over to six schools in different districts of KZN.
The ones that received new buses are:
- Daydawn Training Centre
- Tongaat Special School
- V.N. Naik School For The Deaf
- Pro Nobis School
- Kwazamokuhle Special School
- Pholela Special School
MEC Frazer urged the schools and the community to take good care of these buses.
“I humbly request the communities where these buses will be traveling to look after these buses and ensure that they are used appropriately,” said MEC Frazer.
