Mike Chimombe fall from ZPCS truck on reaching at Harare Magistrates Courts

Zimbabwe: Businessman Mike Chimombe fall off, while disembarking from a Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) truck, arriving at the Harare Magistrates Courts on Monday, July 01, 2024. The controversial businessman is facing trial along with his associate Moses Mpofu, for allegedly defrauding Ministry of Lands of US$7 million.

The duo continued their bail application today, following the case where ZACC Chairperson provided update on the ongoing Chivhayo investigation. The Chairperson of Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) – Michael Reza has given a detailed update on the investigation that they are conducting and involved the businessman Wicknell Chivhayo, Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu.

As per the sources, the investigation involved the possible laundering and abuse of office. The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission has questioned the controversial tenderepreneur, Wicknell Chivhayo and Zanu PF-linked businessmen Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu, invloved over a murky Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) US $40 million tender.

An official letter of complaint to a South African based company was also made, REN-form which conducted business with ZEC allegedly written that by Chimombe and Mpofu over a contractual dispute as well as leaked audios by Chivhayo and has exposed the syndicates’ shenanigans to the public.

The Legislator Mabvuku-Tafara and gold baron – Pedzisayi ‘Scott’ Sakupwanya’s company with better Brands Security, which was used to sign the deal with REN-form of South Africa.

However, in a statement marked on last weekend, ZACC spokesperson – Commissioner Thandiwe Mlobane said that the trio was under the radar and would soon undergo probing. He added that the commission has taken note of a letter purposely written by Messrs Moses Mpofu and Mike Chimombe, to a South African based company, REN form which demanda payment and resolution of a contractual dispute. The Commission has also noted the audios that were allegedly attributed to Mr. Wicknell Chivhayo.

Mlobane further added to his statement that the letter and recordings raised issues that were related to money laundering and abuse of office that fall within the purview of the commission.
