Botswana: Ministry of Environment and Tourism has donated Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (RAC) training tools to the Ministry of Education and Skills Development. The donation was mad through the Ministry’s Department of Meteorological Services.
The conventional air conditioners, refrigerators and similar substances are known sources of ozone depleting components. The donation by the Ministry of Environment wants to ensure that the use of the ozone depleting substances is brought down.
The training equipment and products that the Ministry of Education has received through the Meteorological service seeks to promote eco friendly training for refrigeration and air conditioning courses.
The Ministry of Environment has shared that they have been working with the education stakeholders. They want to spread awareness regarding the importance of protecting the environment.
The officials have shared that the donation will help in strengthening the training centers which are offering refrigeration and air conditioning courses. The officials have shared that they want to make sure that the youngsters are adequately trained to use the new eco friendly activities.
The officials have shared that the stakeholders are implementing the project through the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol. The donation highlights the crucial role of international and local collaboration in addressing environmental challenges.
The whole administration of Botswana has to work together to successful implementation of the country’s environment protection goals. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Bonolo E. Khumotaka was present at the event.
The Permanent Secretary expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Environment and Tourism for their contribution to the cause. She has assured the people who were present at the handover that the equipment would be utilized well.
They will use the equipment in training programs which are will help in the people technicians and artisans of Botswana. Khumotaka said that the Ministry’s commitment to fulfilling national, regional, and global obligations regarding the training of appropriate personnel in this vital area.
The donation was made by the following educational organizations:
- Botswana College of Engineering Technology (BCET)
- Francistown College of Technical and Vocational Education (FCTVE)
- Kanye Brigade.
The officials have shard that the officials are all recognized as Centers of Excellence for training RAC technicians.
