South Africa: Mpumalanga Department of Education is satisfied with the manner in which things unfolded in most of the schools during the first day of school reopening for the 2023 school year.
The Department welcomes all learners, support staff, teachers and everyone back to school, mainly the estimated 120 000 Grade one: learners who are beginning their twelve year school journey. The Department pledges its support throughout its schooling experience and wishes them all well for the 2023 school year and beyond.
Mpumalanga department also urges parents in order to support these learners throughout their schooling journey so that they are able to complete their schooling career in the next twelve years and enable them to advance to tertiary institutions.
At the same time, the Department confirms that the majority of registered learners are in school and learning and teaching started smoothly with no major glitches.
“We wish to extend our appreciation to the school management teams, school governing bodies, teachers, the school communities and all stakeholders for their support towards a smooth school reopening and full return of learners”, said the MEC of the Mpumalanga department.
The Department is currently working around the clock to ensure that all the learners who are still to be admitted, mainly in the fast growing towns, find spaces in their local schools and the process is expected to be finalised within ten days of school reopening.
The Department requests parents of the learners who are still to be admitted to patiently work with the admission teams in the four Districts of the Department while the admission process for their children is being finalised.
The Department also extends its best wishes to all schools for the 2023 school year and beyond.
