Zambia: A 51-year-old man of Kanong’esha Chiefdom was beaten to death by his wife and stepson after the husband and wife had a fight. The victim has been identified as Gidson Chifokolo, a resident of the Masachi village in Mwinilunga District.
The victim was allegedly having a dispute with his wife before the incident, following which the woman and his 25-year-old stepson murdered him.
Northwestern Province Police Commanding Officer, Dennis Moola revealed that the victim was beaten to death by the two suspects.
According to the Commanding Officer, the incident occurred between 24th and 25th December 2023 between 18:00 and 10:00 hours in the Ntambu Sachitolo area.
The brother of the deceased, Kellies Chifokolo, reported the incident to the police on December 25, 2023. The officials revealed that the phone call was received at around 12:00 hours.
He further stated that sticks were alleged to have been used in the act.
“This occurred between 24th December, 2023 around 18:00 hours and 25th December, 2023 around 10:00 hours at Masachi village Ntambu Sachitolo area in Mwinilunga district,” stated the police commanding officer.
Moola added that police rushed to the scene and found the body of the deceased lying on the ground in a pool of blood. The body was discovered in a nearby bush about 20 meters away from the houses.
He said upon physical inspection of the body, the officials revealed that there were multiple cuts on the head of the deceased.
The investigation into the matter have started. The North Western Province Police Commanding officer, Moola said that the suspects were apprehended by the members of the public and handed over to the police.
He said a docket of the case of murder has since been opened and arrest made while the body of the deceased has been deposited into Mwinilunga district hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
Social media users have expressed their condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased. Some users have demanded for justice to be served and the suspects to be punished for their crimes.
