Malawi: The Police officers in Mzuzu have been investigating a series of house break ins in the district. The officials have made significant progress in the investigation and arrested two men.
The suspects have been identified as 19 year old Sinda Chirwa, and 24 year old Mphatso Vumu. The police believes that the two individuals hava a connection to the theft incidents and house break ins.
Public relations officer for Mzuzu Police Station, Cecilia Mfune has reported the details of the investigation into the matter. The officials have shared the details of the investigation. She said that the suspects were arrested during the festive season over several days at Luwinga and Chibavi Townships.
According to the Public relations officer for the Mzuzu Police force, the police detectives conducted a special intelligence operation.The operation helped the officers make the arrest in the smallest possible window.
The police officers have also recovered some items from the arrested individuals, which has been identified as stolen. The items included:
- AG Lenovo Monitor
- 42 inch Ecco Plasma
- 32 inch Samsung Plasma screen
- HP CPU
- Two Xbox consoles
- One HP Laptop
- One Huwel Cellphone
- Three game control pads
- Three remote controllers.
She said the suspects have been charged with housebreaking and theft and will appear before court soon to answer their charges.
“As we approach the final days of the festive season, we urge the general public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions in ensuring their safety. We want to assure the public of our commitment to provide a safe and secure environment for all,” Mfune said.
Chirwa is a resident of the Mlale village, Traditional Authority Timbiri in Nkhatabay District. Meanwhile Vumu is a resident of the Ekwendeni village, Traditional Authority Mtwalo in Mzimba District.
The arrest of these suspects is a proof of the government’s dedication towards ensuring a safe festive season.
