Ottawa – KZN: Man dosed with poison, collapses

A 23 year old resident of Zimbabwe was taken to the hospital after some people found him unconscious in a complex in Ottawa – KZN.

South Africa: A 23 year old resident of Zimbabwe was taken to the hospital after some people found him unconscious in a complex in Ottawa – KZN. The victim was allegedly dosed with a poisoned pie which caused him to collapse while he was on a delivery bike.

The incident was reported to the Reaction Unit South Africa in the morning hours of Wednesday   at approximately 08:27 hours. The Reaction officers noted that they received the call from  private security provider Project 360.

The callers asked the members of the reaction unit to give them immediate assistance after a man was discovered lying on the ground.  The team of Reaction officers was dispatched to the scene shortly afterwards.

The victim spoke to the first responders, providing them the details of the incident. The delivery biker informed the First Responders that his ex-work colleague had given him a poisoned pie that he had consumed earlier.

After eating the pie, the victim became unresponsive and incoherent and was transported to hospital by Paramedics. The sister of the victim also shared the details of the incident with the reaction officers.

The victim’s sister works at the complex in Ottawa – KZN where he was found in an unresponsive state. She informed the officers that her brother came to the complex from his home in Verulam – KZN.

He was screaming that he was about to die. Before he collapsed the victim informed his sister that an ex colleague had given him a pie that he suspected was poisoned.

He revealed that the said ex-worker insistedon him to eat it while it was warm. A few minutes after eating the pie he became violently ill and immediately came to the complex for help.

Later on, the victim became unresponsive and experienced multiple seizures before Reaction Officers & Paramedics could gather further information. The reaction officers are unable to pinpoint the exact reason for the victim’s collapse.

However, for the time, they have accepted the victim’s theory of him being poisoned. He is currently receiving treatment.
