Pedastrian injured in accident between Canelands and Verulam

South Africa: The Reaction Unit of South Africa has received reports of a road accident that resulted in a pedestrian being run over. The officers have shared that the incident happened between Canelands and Verulam on Monday morning.

The 23 year old pedestrian reported injuries after he was run over on the south bound R102 between Canelands and Verulam. The officials have revealed that the vehicle responsible for the accident, has been identified as white Hyundai i10.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured in the accident, meanwhile the victim has sustained fractures in both the legs. The Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived on scene at approximately 07:21.

After the team got to the scene they talked to the victim and got the details of the incident. They gave the victim first aid and stabilized him on the scene. Afterwards, he was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.

When the reaction officers got to the scene, the vehicle involved in the accident, that is the Hyndai i10 was at the scene. Further, the people have shared that these incidents have become extremely normal on the roads of KwaZulu Natal.

The province’s people have asked the country’s administration to work on sensitizing drivers and road users on responsibility. They also asked the administration to construct road bridges to facilitate safer crossing.

Further, the people of the country have also expressed their concern about the situation of the pedestrian who was injured in the accident. They hope that he will have a speedy recovery.

However, at the same time, social media users have advised the people of the country to cross the roads responsibly. The user said, they have seen people suddenly run out in front of vehicles to cross over. They added that sometimes it’s difficult to stop safely. This puts the driver and other road users at risk.
