Dominica: Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit has shared the update regarding the development of the construction of the new Goodwill Secondary School. He shared some new images from the school construction site. He stated that these are the latest pictures of the secondary school project.
The school is one of the five educational institutions whose construction has been taken up by the administration of Dominica. The Prime Minister informed the people of the country that the construction is going on at a good pace.
The Prime Minister made the remarks through his social media account. Notably, the construction of the school is also significant as it is part of the rehabilitation project for infrastructure that was destroyed during the 2017 Hurricane maria.
After the Hurricane Maria, a part of the school sustained significant damage. The government announced the rehabilitation of the school in August 2023 during the 2023-24 budget address.
After this significant announcement, the work on the rehabilitation of the infrastructure started in November 2023. PM Skerrit has been overseeing the progress on the construction of the school project. He has been sharing regular updates on the development of the project.
The construction is aided by the funds from the People’s Republic of China under their china aid project.
The project further employs the contractors of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC). After the construction has been completed, the educational institution will offer technical and vocational education.
The aim of the school’s new facilities is to boost the country’s education sector. Further, the Prime Minister believes that the school will help strengthen many people in the country.
Through vocational education, the people of the country will be able to hone many of their non conventional talents and make a career out of technical knowledge.
PM Roosevelt Skerrit noted that after completion, the school will be established and designated as the National Centre of Excellence for Technical and Vocational Education.
The students will be trained in numerous of the following technical and vocational arts, including garment production, electricity and appliance installation, auto machanic, Air Conditioner, TV repair and more.
