Dominica: Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit made an announcement regarding the assigning of two garbage trucks to proceed with Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation service on Friday, August 08, 2025. He confirmed this during his 2025 Budget Debate presentation which aimed to enhance sustainable practices and waste management.
Reportedly, this initiative marked a broader plan of the Dominica government to enhance garbage collection and waste management across the country.
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has officially shared the post regarding this on his social media handle and stated that – as previously announced by him during his 2025 Budget Debate presentation, the Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation has received two garbage trucks, which have already been put into service.
He further stated that – this marks the first step in a broader plan to enhance garbage collection and waste management across the country. Skerrit confirmed through his statement that – these trucks are expected to be received later this year in 2025, alongside improvements in collection and disposal systems, as well as a long-term strategy to reduce reliance on the Stockfarm Landfill.
As per the sources, these garbage trucks will also prosper the resilient goals of the Dominica Government, in order to enhance the service for the garbage management. Also, it will improve the collection and disposal systems in the country, taking care that the neat and clean communities are promoted.
Moreover, it is a long-term strategy which is being implemented to address the challenges of waste management. Six new garbage trucks will be procured by the Dominica government and are expected to be received by end of August 2025.
Whereas, the four remaining garbage trucks are anticipated to arrive by the month of October in 2025.

The federation will establish a dedicated dump for vehicles while white goods are entitled to address environment and safety concerns. The government will also purchase four additional tipper trucks to enhance the collection and disposal process. This resilient goal of Dominica will enhance the waste management.
