Dominica: Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit visited St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 to take tour to two significant developments Acute Care Hospital at Arnos Vale and the newly upgraded Port of Kingstown.
PM Skerrit emphasised on the Argyle International Airport project. It is a development that initially faced significant scepticism. He said that there were many doubting Thomases, even within the Unity Labour Party.
The project is considered potentially a ‘White Elephant’ that has now become so crucial that expansion of the terminal is being discussed.
Prime Minister Skerrit also held discussions with the Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves and members of the cabinet. He also appeared at the press briefing held at the conference room located within the Modern Port Facility.
The most compelling narrative of PM Gonsalves’ leadership emerged in the education sector that signifies the major change. Before 2000, only 5% to 6% students had access to tertiary education, with limited secondary school access while scholarships were typically reserved for a privileged one only.
At present, the government has increased educational opportunities and have adopted an inclusive approach to national development.
Considering this, PM Skerrit praised Gonsalves’ unique approach to leadership and highlighted his ability to connect personally with citizens. Skerrit said that he can be in touch with almost every single citizen and find ways to address individual and family challenges.
Skerrit emphasised that he is not here to talk about politics, he is here to talk about governance and development.
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit was joined by the Prime Minister Phillip J. Pierre of Saint Lucia, during his one-day official visit to St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit acknowledged PM Ralph Gonsalves for remarkable progress of St. Vincent and the Grenadines despite numerous challenges.
Skerrit emphasised the extraordinary context of SVG’s development, pointing to a series of formidable obstacles that could have derailed national progress. He explained that they are talking about multiple crises and citied international financial challenges, oil price volatility, the global pandemic, volcanic eruption, hurricanes and ongoing international conflicts that have tested the nation’s resilience.
