St Kitts and Nevis: PM Terrance Drew and the members of his federal cabinet travelled to Nevis Island on Monday. The Federal Cabinet of the country held fruitful discussions with the members of the Nevis Island Administration, led by Premier Mark Brantley. The leaders of the twin islands came together for a joint cabinet meeting.
The heads of the Federal government and the NIA discussed opportunities for future and present collaborations between the two islands. The Prime Minister called for the leadership of the two islands to work together.
According to Dr Drew, the people of both the islands are one and they should get the same opportunities. Healthcare emerged as one of the sectors where the sharing of resources and collaboration between the two islands is most beneficial.
During the joint cabinet sitting, PM Terrance Drew said that the people of Nevis can come to St Kitts to get dialysis. The country has the facility to accommodate the people from the sister island and give them lifesaving treatment.
Meanwhile, the people of St Kitts can travel to Nevis and take advantage of the modern and advanced CT Scan Facilities. The Prime Minister remarked that St Kitts and Nevis is one country, adding that there is scope for the two islands to come together.
PM Drew acknowledged that constitutional reforms are needed to ascertain ways for the sister islands to come together. The collaboration and cooperation of the two administrations will benefit the people of the country.
He stated that the government under his leadership is working hard to make sure that the decisions of the administration can benefit the people. The Prime Minister, Dr Terrance Drew and Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley, also discussed another significant sector of collaboration: Geothermal Energy.
Notably, the island of Nevis has an abundance of geothermal energy resources that can be harnessed for the benefit of both islands. PM Terrance Dew announced that they have decided to work together on this resource.
PM Drew believes that they can benefit and transform the country with their collaboration, and both the people of the country can benefit from the initiatives.
