St Kitts: PM Terrance Drew recently met the United Nations Resident Coordinator for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Didier Trebucq on Tuesday. The meeting aimed to discuss the various critical areas of cooperation between St Kitts and Nevis and The United Nations.

The meeting was attended by high level government officials, including Naeemah Hazel, the Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, and Bjorn Hazel, Senior Foreign Service Officer, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Meanwhile, UN Resident Coordinator Trebucq was accompanying a delegation consisting of:

  • Cosbert Woods, the UN Country Coordinator for St Kitts and Nevis
  • Uzumma Erume, an Economist and Development Coordination Unit Officer at the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office

The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis hosted the UN resident Coordinator to discuss the development of a new UN Country Implementation Plan for the upcoming two years. The government of St Kitts and Nevis and the United Nations are crafting ways of collaboration that align with the sustainable island state agenda of the federation.

The meeting was hosted in the Prime Minister’s Office where they engaged in what was termed as a fruitful discussion by PM Drew. The Prime Minister shared the glimpses of the meeting through his social media.

In his tweet, the Prime Minister Terrance Drew asserted that he was happy to host Didier Trebucq and his delegation for this meeting. The Resident Coordinator for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Didier Trebucq is currently visiting the federation to carve out places where UN and St Kitts and Nevis can cooperate.

He has interacted with the non-governmental stakeholders of the country to renew developments and make sure that the collaborations align with the government’s agenda for the sustainable growth of the country.

Previously, Trebucq visited the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis for a Courtesy Call in October 2022. Within the first few months of the Prime Minister’s election in the position of the prime minister, Trebucq committed his support and cooperation to the developmental avenues of the country.
