South Africa: The Premier of Free State, Letsoha Mathae visited families of two out of the three South African National Defence Force soldiers, who lost their lives in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The soldiers were all residents of the free state and were on a peace keeping mission in Congo.
The visit of the Premier speaks of her dedication to the welfare of the people and showing solidarity with the armed forces of the nation. The Premier was accompanying the MEC for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, Ketso Makume.
Further, the MEC for Health Monyatso Mahlatsi also visited the families of the soldiers. The deceased soldiers have been identified by the staff of the South Africa National Defense Force.
The first solider was Staff Sergeant Molahlehi Ishmael Molahlehi from Selosesha in Thaba-Nchu. The second, Rifleman Tshidiso Andries Mabele from Senekal. Finally, Rifleman Mokete Joseph Mobe from U-Section in Botshabelo.
The authorities have visited two of the three families and promised to support the families through their grief
The Premier and Members of the Executive Council extended their condolences to the bereaved families. The first family to be visited was the family of Rifleman Mobe who leaves behind his wife, daughter, siblings and his mother.
This gallant soldier will be laid to rest on Saturday 22 February 2025 at Botshabelo Arena. The entourage proceed to Thaba Nchu to the family of Staff Sergeant Molahlehi.
His 22-year-old daughter shared that she was very distraught by the death of the soldier
Staff Sergeant Molahlehi is survived by a two months old baby who he has never had the chance to meet or see. Molahlehi will be buried on Sunday 23 February 2025. The Free State Provincial Government has promised that they will help the members of the family who have lost their lives and make sure their burial goes on smoothly.
The Premier said she will deploy MECs to attend the funeral services of the fallen heroes. The family of Rifleman Mabele will be visited before the end of the week
