Prudence Sekgodiso becomes second fastest South African athlete

South Africa: Athlete Prudence Sekgodiso became the second fastest South African woman in the 800m after she finished the race in just 1:58:05 to book her tickets to the Paris Olympics 2024. Prudence was left behind by the great Caster Semenya.

As per the sources, the Track sensation Prudence Sekgodiso has sent out a warning to her competitors with whom she is going to compete at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

The twenty-two-year-old female athlete was in sublime form as she achieved a personal best time in the 800m race at the league meet on Saturday, March 02, 2024 in Tshwane.

Reportedly, Oratile Nowe from Botswana was the closest competitor in the race to Sekgodiso, as she finished at 2:00:22 and came second. Nowe was just two seconds behind the winner, Sekgodiso.

In the race, Aviwe Hobloshe came third, reached the finish line just after eight seconds, and completed her race in 2:06:67.

The phenomenal performance by the three athletes will certainly hold Prudence Sekgodiso in good stead as she seems to make her mark on the Olympics.

The South African athlete qualifies for the semi-finals of the 800m in the World Athletics Championship in Budapest in 2023 however, her fall was seen in that race due to which she missed out on grabbing her place in the finals.

After falling back once, she decided not to give up, and she certainly rose back. Sekgodiso also posted her picture on her Instagram account, remembering the historic Personal Best (PB) time. By posting her picture, she confirmed that she would be at the Games in August.

Prudence Tebogo Sekgodiso hails from Gauteng, South Africa. She is a middle-distance runner specializing in the 800m race. She was a gold medalist in the 800m at the 2019 African U-18 Championships.

She has been South African Athletics Championships winner five times in the 1500m and 800m track races.
