The interview was held with Reaction Unit officers, in which it was found that Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) officers received a frantic call on 24 December the evening from a family seeking immediate assistance to rescue that male. The family believed he was going to be murdered if Officers did not immediately intervene.

Reaction Officers converged on the scene and found a naked male surrounded by a crowd armed with homemade weapons. The family informed Officers that the mob found the naked man on one of the residential premises, and the homeowner believed that he was lurking on the property intending to perform black magic.

Furthermore, the family explained that the man suffered from a medical condition, and the crowd became violent and insisted that he was performing witchcraft.

Reaction Officers stood off at the scene while the family clothed the man and removed him to safety. Residents of the area are shocked and in a dilemma after the incident.

One of the locals said, “We don’t know what he was up to, maybe he came to murder any of one, or maybe his intention was to do black magic as on Christmas Eve this is very common, and after got captured he pretended to be mentally sick and who knows that is he actually sick or not.”

Furthermore, he added, “We were awake the whole night as this incident gave us goose bumps and that too on Christmas Eve. We all were together the whole night just to get ourselves okay.”
